The Filming Process

Where does the filming take place? We typically film in the comfort of your loved one’s home. This helps them feel relaxed and allows us to capture them in a familiar, meaningful environment.

How do we know which stories to tell? Don't worry—you don't need to be a storyteller! We provide a consultation call before the shoot to help you choose the right questions and decide which stories are most important to preserve. During the shoot, we guide the conversation to make it feel natural and engaging.

What if my loved one is nervous on camera? It's completely normal to feel a bit shy. However, because we have completed hundreds of interviews, we know exactly how to make the "interview" feel like a friendly, low-pressure conversation. Film Delivery

How will I receive our family stories? We want to make sure your films are easy to watch and share. We offer two primary ways to receive your digital files:

  • Protected YouTube Link: Most of our clients prefer a private, protected YouTube link. This allows you to easily share all of your family stories with relatives around the world with just one click.

  • Physical Flash Drive: If you prefer a physical backup, we can mail you a flash drive containing all the high-definition video files for the cost of the drive and postage.

What is the format of the final films? To make the stories easy to watch and enjoy, we provide each story as a separate "short film," typically 3 to 8 minutes in length. This "chapter" style makes it perfect for sharing on social media or watching a few stories at a time during family gatherings.
